Positive: I would highly recommend staying at the Shepherd's Retreat. The owners were easy to communicate with, provided clear check in/out instructions and lots of information about the area. The cottage was really nice. Absolutely spotless when we arrived. The owners left a welcome basket with juice, wine, local chutney, milk and a homemade cake, which was so nice to have and a really nice touch. The beds are really comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic. There are lots of DVDs and boardgames too. Plus you can't beat the location, right on the line of the Wall!

Negative: We were there during a particularly cold week (woke up to snow on several days!), and found the bedrooms a bit cold. It is an old building, so not unexpected. There are extra blankets and hot water bottles in the bedroom cupboards, so we were able to make it very cosy.

Summary: Excellent stay in a fantastic location
