Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The apartment was spacious with the bedrooms quite separated. It was clean although I did not like the shaggy rugs for hygienic reasons. The balcony was of a good size. The beds were comfortable enough. The washing machine and dryer were good. Parking underneath was tight but useful, not having to go out into the laneway to enter the building was comforting. Instructions to retrieve keys were clear. I had to get on my knee to get to the keybox inside the letterbox though. Responses to queries were promptly answered.

Negative: The seating was uncomfortable. It may be ok for younger people but chairs with armrests would have been better. I finished up bringing the outdoor chair into the room. The crockery was very sparse! Just 3 wineglasses and 3 tumblers. We were with 3 people there, so lucky we didn’t have visitors. The shower in the main bathroom was hard to get to if you’re elderly…well, even younger people would not find it easy. The step into the bath was high!!! Stepping out was even more of a challenge as the tiles were glossy and there was nothing to hold on to. I didn’t feel comfortable in the area and would not have liked to have ventured outside to a restaurant. There was a lot of noise from people shouting until late at night, especially at night. The front entrance was messy with mail scattered on the porch. Several mailboxes looked like they had been attempted to be forced open. About a week to ten days before we got there I received ( from the owners) too many forms to be filled out, asking too many details. I even had to sign a rental agreement!!!! They also asked for a photo ID….and government ids. I have travelled extensively and prefer apartments but I have never come across this - had this happened at the start of my booking I would not have gone ahead…..that’s probably why they left it to the last minute….too late for us to find alternative accommodation. The threat was that they would cancel our booking if not filled out.
