The "Verbena" apartment is located on the first hill above Stresa (about 250 m) and has panoramic views over Lake Maggiore and the surrounding countryside and mountains. It is surrounded by a large, fenced garden and is only 1 km (5 minutes in the car, less than 10 minutes on foot, via a private footpath) from the bustling town centre of Stresa. The location is very peaceful and quiet.
Stresa is 42 km (less than an hour) from Milan-Malpensa airport. From the end of March to the end of September there is a bus service called "Alibus" which takes you directly from Malpensa airport to Stresa. Alternatively, a taxi can be arranged for you (120 Euros single).
Its railway station connects you easily with Milan (45 mins fast train), where you can shop, sightsee, or simply sip a coffee and watch the world go by in the majestic Piazza del Duomo.
Stresa is the most popular tourist destination on Lake Maggiore and it's not hard to see why. With its beautiful lakeside promenade dotted with grand Belle Époque hotels and villas, its sunny beach and outdoor swimming pool (Lido Carciano), its delicious restaurants and little shops, many selling local products, its mountain walks and lake sports, there is something for everyone.
The town faces the famous Borromeo Islands of Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori so just hop on any ferry to discover the enchanting beauty of Lake Maggiore, its fascinating villas along the shore, the Piedmont towns of Arona and Intra and the picturesque town of Laveno nestled on the other side of the lake in Lombardy. You can even take a full-day boat tour all the way up the lake to Switzerland (Ascona and Locarno).
Less than an hour's drive away are the ski slopes and nature trails of the Mottarone mountain.
